Two of my natural passions from a youngster have been sports and helping others, so choosing a career in healthcare as a physiotherapist was a no brainer. But it didn’t happen right away.
My journey in this area began at UniSA in Human Movement for a year before the opportunity to play soccer in the US on a student-athlete scholarship presented itself. At that moment, I decided to take a big leap outside my comfort zone and move to the US and it was there I completed my Bachelor of Exercise Physiology in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After graduating, I worked at a one of a kind wellness centre called ‘The Marsh’ for three years as an exercise specialist. During this time, I developed a new passion for working with older adults. This drove me to get further qualified in this area to be more equipped with training this population. As a result, I got certified as a Functional Aging Specialist through the Functional Aging Institute in the US and took further certifications to assist in caring for older adults.
After 8 years abroad, my partner and I made the decision to move back to Australia where we got married soon after. We both love to go to the beach together, stay active and play football (soccer), which surprise, surprise is how we first met. If I’m not kicking a round ball around, you’ll usually find me on the golf course, sipping on a wine or just hanging out with good company.
After returning to Australia, I have completed my Masters of Physiotherapy at Flinders University. I am excited to start combining my exercise expertise with my hands on skills to get you back doing what you love to do whether that be high level sports or just returning to the garden.
I love the team and supportive energy at PhysioWest and hope to welcome you into our friendly community to help you on your rehabilitation journey.
