A fracture is a break in the continuity of a bone. They range from relatively minor fractures to major life threatening injuries. Fractures can also be caused by a range of factors, including traumatic incident, repetitive stress or pathological causes (abnormal weakening of the bone).
How can PhysioWest help?
Like any condition, treatment depends on the fracture and the individual. At PhysioWest, our physios are trained in a range of techniques that can be employed to help manage fractures and speed your recovery. Usually, physiotherapy cannot occur until after a period of immobilisation.

FRACTURE MANAGEMENT FACTS
- Safe exercise program prescribed and monitored by our physiotherapists helps restore muscle length and balance.
- Our therapists are trained in techniques which can improve movement of affected joints once the fracture has healed.
- Remedial massage releases tightness in muscles after splinting or casting. This reduces pain and restores muscle length.
- If you need crutches (or similar), our physiotherapists can teach you ways of walking to promote optimal healing.
