Hi I'm Lauren. It's great to meet you!
I studied at the University of South Australia and graduated with both a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. I have also had 4 years’ experience as a sports trainer for multiple local soccer clubs.
Throughout my childhood and adolescence I was fairly active and heavily involved in sports (particularly soccer). I was lucky enough to avoid injuries, but had a younger brother who faced multiple injuries. Having watched the physiotherapist help with his rehab and return to sport I gained an initial interest and appreciation for the profession, as they helped my brother get back to what he loved doing. I always wanted a career in health science, but was unsure which direction to take straight out of highschool. After trying and completing a few unfufilling degrees I finally went down the path of physiotherapy. This was perfect for me as it combined my interests in health care and the functionality of the body, with my passion to help people.
Joining the team at PhysioWest was a given for me. I was lucky enough to know the group for quite a while before joining and knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of such a strong team. PhysioWest offers a patient-centred approach and drives to provide the best possible care to all patients, which aligns perfectly with my healthcare beliefs and core values. The friendly, fun and caring staff makes PhysioWest the ideal environment to work and grow in. From a young age I was always taught to treat others the way I wanted to be treated.
This motto resonates with me both personally and professionally; this means providing patients with the standard of care I would expect for myself or loved ones. My main interests lie in orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation. Being involved in sporting clubs both as a player and sports trainer sparked an additional interest in acute injury management and prevention for athletes. I am driven to provide a personal approach to care by working together with patients to address any health and wellbeing concerns as well as offering assistance with achieving their goals. I strive to help everyday people be the best versions of themselves physically so they can return to a pain-free lifestyle.
Outside of work my time is mainly spent with friends and family. You may also find me working out at F45 (if I am not feeling lazy), devouring a meal in Chinatown on a Friday night or bargain hunting across the many op-shops Adelaide has to offer. My greatest love is travelling with my partner across the globe and exploring some of South Australia's hidden gems - so please, if you have any Chinese food, op-shop or travel tips/suggestions I am all ears.
